Scottish Gaelic classes via Zoom

Subject to sufficient registration, the following classes will be offered

Beginning Scottish Gaelic – continued from Fall 2025 / Intermediate Scottish Gaelic Level 3 Scottish Gaelic / Tutorials with Kerrie / Private Classes / About Kerrie

Thursday evenings via Zoom for 6 weeks from April 2 through May 7, 2026, 6:30pm-7:30pm Eastern time.

New students are welcome. This class is limited to 10 students.

We will continue to work on the past tense of irregular verbs (chaidh, rinn, chuala and thuirt). In addition to working on “in” and “out,” we will add “up” and “down”. We will continue to work with innis (tell) in the past and future tenses, and use prepositional pronouns with ri to talk about going places with other people, as well as how to describe people. We will add more conversation practice to build speaking skills.

Cost for 6 x 1 hour classes: $50 or $45 for seniors 65 and over.

$45 students (students will have to show a valid student card at first class)

Saturday mornings via Zoom for 6 weeks beginning April 11 through May 30, 2026, 10:00am – 11:30am Eastern time.

New students are welcome. This class is limited to 10 students.

We will continue to work on the conditional tense using bhiodh (bhithinn – I would be) and bu chòir dhomh (I should), “if” and “if not”, and “enjoying” things . We will continue to develop our speaking skills and working on writing short pieces.

Cost for 6 x 1.5 hour class: $65 or $55 for seniors 65 and over

$55 students (students will have to show a valid student card at first class)

Payment for all classes is by InterAc on your online banking site to payment@torontogaelic.ca (no password necessary). We regret that we cannot accept payments by PayPal or credit cards. Arrangements can be made to pay by cheque. Wednesday evenings via Zoom for 6 weeks beginning April 8 through May 13, 2026, 6:30pm – 7:30pm Eastern time.

Kerrie is available for private classes, including classes to work on a specific topic. Private classes are tailored to the needs of each individual student.

Private classes are $45 (tax included) for the first hour (or any part of the first hour) and can be broken into 15 minute additions after that. Please contact fios@torontogaelic.ca for further information or to arrange times.

Students who want to have a private session to review concepts covered in class, work on conversation, or who want to review a concept they will need for a class level can arrange to book a 30 minute tutorial with Kerrie.

Tutorials are only available to students who have registered in TGLA courses for either the September 2024 or January 2026 term. Students who have registered in any of these group classes can book a tutorial any time until a new year of classes begin in September 2026.

Tutorials are 30 minutes in length for $25 (tax included). Contact fios@torontogaelic.ca to arrange a time.

Kerrie Kennedy is a former Highland dance teacher and has studied Scottish Gaelic at University of Toronto and the Gaelic College in Cape Breton. She is a past recipient of the Kennedy Society of America Gaelic Scholarship and the An Comunn Gàidhlig Ameireaganach (the American Scottish Gaelic Society) Gaelic Scholarship. She has been teaching Scottish Gaelic group classes for the Toronto Gaelic Learners’ Association, and to private students since 2001.
